Small School Underdog Jacob Tucker Nabs Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship at the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships

College of Charleston’s Andrew Goudelock Edges Massachusetts’ Cerie Mosgrove in 3-Point Battle of the Champions

[March 31, 2011] CHICAGO – Underdog small school competitor 5-foot-11-inch Jacob Tucker, from Division III Illinois College, won the Denny’s Slam Dunk Championship at the 23rd annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston campus tonight.  In a tight final round against UNC Asheville’s John Williams, Tucker rebounded from two missed attempts with a thunderous reverse slam over Illinois College teammate Nathan Kohler. Tucker, whose YouTube highlight video has garnered more than three million views, won the Facebook fan vote for the only non-Division I spot in the event.

Andrew Goudelock from the College of Charleston won the Mercedes-Benz Men’s 3-Point Shooting Championship.  Massachusetts’ Cerie Mosgrove took home the State Farm Women’s 3-Point Shooting Championship title.  In the Battle of the Champions, Goudelock edged Mosgrove, 17-15.

The program premiered on ESPN2 tonight and will reair numerous times on ESPN networks, including a Saturday at 1:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 broadcast.
