Scott Malaga Joins Intersport’s Sponsorship & Event Marketing Department

[Nov. 8, 2011] CHICAGO – Effective immediately, Scott Malaga joins Intersport as Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships. Malaga will be overseeing sales efforts for the Sponsorship & Event Marketing division at Intersport.

Since its inception in 2003, Intersport’s Sponsorship and Event Marketing division has enjoyed tremendous growth. The group advises and activates for some of the world’s biggest brands, including GEICO, TD Ameritrade, Taco Bell, Cadillac, JP Morgan Chase, GMC and Under Armour. The company has activated official sponsorships for nearly every major platform, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, BCS and NCAA. For seven-consecutive years, Event Marketer magazine has named Intersport to its “It List” of the Top 100 agencies. In 2011, Intersport was recognized by SportsBusiness Journal as one of five finalists for the Event Marketing Agency of the Year.

Malaga has 15 years of experience in the sports marketing and sales industry. He most recently served as Vice President of Corporate Partnerships with the Chicago Fire. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade selling college sports, including a lengthy stop as the SVP and National Sales Director at ISP Sports, which was the nation’s largest collegiate rights holder during Malaga’s tenure.

Malaga received his undergraduate degree from Cornell, where he was a first team all-Ivy League running back and was inducted into the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame. He received his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Ohio University.
